19/07/2010 Following the sad news of Mike Kerruish's death, the club would like to pass it's condolonces to Marianne, Daniel, Summer and his mother Olive at this very difficult time. Mike was liked and respected by all those who were fortunate enough to make his acquaintance over the years. As First Deemster he reached the pinnacle of his profession, but always had time for anyone, with genuine warmth, interest, and always humour. Mike formed part of Peter Gough led consortium that took control of the golf course and made the golf club what it is today. Although a serious knee injury prevented him from playing golf, he was a regular in the restaurant, attended the annual dinners, and supported the club throughout. He will be sadly missed. His funeral will take place this Friday, 23rd July, at Lonan Church. 11/04/2010 Now that the computer in the locker room is connected to the internet, all scores from competitions are uploaded to masterscoreboard.co.uk as soon as the compeition is closed. This means they should usually be available on the evening of the competition, or the next morning (depending on how quickly Dave or Kevin do it!). The results will of course be subject to review from the committee. So even if I haven't updated results on the main site, always check masterscoreboard.co.uk
06/03/2010 The Government website has a section dedicated to King Edward Bay, including a video in which multiple times club champion and head greenkeeper Brian Duggan shows us how to play the 15th - direct link to the video is here.
03/03/2010 A selection of newsletters have been uploaded in pdf format. Obviously this is by no means exhaustive (these are just the ones I've found so far!) but I will upload others as and when I come across them. Please follow the links at the top of the page.
02/03/2010 Please note that the results for the stableford competition played on Saturday 20th February have been amended. The winner was Ben Watson, with Danny Kane finishing second - not the other way around! Apologies for the confusion.
17/02/2010 Please note the following change to the fixture list. The Mike Betteridge 4BBB qualifying round will now take place on Sunday 4th April to maintain the tradition of playing this event on Easter Sunday. The Jenny Brown Memorial will therefore be played the following week, on Sunday 11th April. This change has been reflected on the website, but not in the red fixture list book.

15/02/2010 Please see the email below, receieved from Melvyn Hunter Morrow, great great grandson of Old Tom Morris, who designed the original course at Howstrake. If any members would like to represent King Edward Bay on 5th June please let the committee know: For the attention of the Secretary of King Edward Bay Golf Club Old Tom Morris Tournament at Moray GC in June 2010 Hi I am not certain if you are aware but Moray GC is hosting the Old Tom Morris Tournament this year on Saturday the 5th of June 2010. This being its fourth year and is on a rota basic around all the clubs associated with Old Tom Morris. Steve Crane the Secretary of Moray has either been or will be in contact with you in due course to see is any King Edward Bay Members would like to attend representing your club. Past years have been fun, I believe that one or two from your club attended in 2007, however this year my understanding is that David Joy (http://www.golfhistorian.co.uk/ ) will be attending, I expect in his role of Old Tom as will Ernie Payne (http://www.erniepaynegolf.co.uk/ ) who has played all the golf courses in Scotland. I too will be there. Your club is a member of a small unique group of clubs that can honestly boast the involvement of Old Tom Morris and I hope that you will be able to encourage some of your Members to participate and perhaps one day in the not too distance future you may want to host the event yourselves. To date the following have hosted the tournament Tain (inaugural), Tain 2008, Rosapenna 2009, Moray 2010 and I believe it is pre booked up to 2016 with Huntly. While time is pushing on overnight accommodation will need to be booked soon to guarantee a room(s). I do hope that your club will be represented on the 5th June 2010. For further details please contact Mr Steve M Crane Secretary of The Moray Golf Club (secretary@moraygolf.co.uk). Your club is one of four clubs on the Isle of Man that has had Old Tom design input, one move from the original site Douglas (from Duchess Head now within a mile or so of its original site) whilst Ramsay, Castletown and yourselves remain on your original site. I hope that some from the Isle of Man will be able to venture to Moray in June I am the great, great grandson of Old Tom Morris Happy New Year to you and your members Warm regards Melvyn Melvyn Hunter Morrow
12/02/2010 Work has now begun on the 7th green, and will hopefully be completed in 6-8 weeks time, in time for the new season. The turf to be used is of a higher quality than the previous turf, and should be similar to the 8th green. Obviously this means that the 7th hole will not be in use during this period. The plan is for Saturday competitions to be played over 17 holes, while Sunday competitions will be played over 18, incorporating the 18th hole twice, once at the start of the round (to count as the 7th hole), and then at the end of the round as usual. Your patience during these few weeks is appreciated, and once again we will all reap the rewards of Brian's hard work over the summer months.
The latest newletter is available to download as a pdf file here: Issue 1 2010
To ensure that members are guaranteed tee times over the winter period, from 1 December to 31 March 2010 competitions on Saturday's will no longer be open to non-members. Instead, KEB is offering a winter membership for 4 months, at the price of GBP 100.
Could all members please note the following important information: KEB is affiliated to the English Golf Union, and all members of KEB with handicaps have been assigned their own unique ten digit "Lifetime ID" number. This includes those memberswho are also members of other clubs, even those whose "home" club is not KEB. The "Lifetime ID" number allows members' scores for all qualifying competitions, regardless of the course played on, to be automatically recorded on English Golf Union database, and therefore automatically updated on KEB's computer. This will ensure that all handicaps are always up to date, and save players from having to bring in their cards from away competitions for the handicap committee to update manually. All clubs on the Island are required to register it's players with the English Golf Union, but KEB is the first club to do so, therefore our members are the first to be allocated a "Lifetime ID" number. If you are a member of another club, please inform them that you already have your "Lifetime ID" number. The administrator from your other club will be able to locate your number when they log in to the English Golf Union website. If you wish to know your number please ask a committee member, or email .
